How Deep the Father's Love for Us

Today Jerrod and I went to approve Tyler's headstone. As hard as it was, it was beautiful. It was just what we wanted for him and does his sweet little face so much justice. I wanted to share a picture of it because we have waited so long to see it. We will take more pictures once it is in place, and we are looking forward to visiting him so very soon.

As I ran my fingers across his picture, the places where his eyes and mouth are are so smooth and shiny. It was soft and the details vivid. I would give anything to run my finger across his cheek once more or to gaze into his big brown eyes. At church tonight, we sang a song that is close to my heart....How Deep the Father's Love for Us.....Here are the words:

How deep the Father's love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
Bring many sons to glory

Behold the Man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocing voice,
Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that helf Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I knoww that it is finished

I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast inJesus Christ
His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom

  1. The headstone is beautiful just as Tyler is! We just finished my parents headstone and it should be in place by Christmas. I know it can be a tough thing to do and get through. Praying for you all. Elizabeth
